What Does Galileo Offer?

Galileo sits at the heart of Colorado Springs and serves a diverse student population. As a public middle school serving about 450 students, Galileo has become a school-wide AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school. AVID is a nationally recognized curriculum which provides all students with the skills needed to be successful in their continuing education as well as in careers. All teaching staff attend monthly professional development to learn how to implement AVID strategies in their classrooms.

Galileo offers the standard core middle school classes, Math, Science, English Language Arts (ELA), and Social Studies. As an AVID school, we offer advanced classes in ELA and Math. Galileo also offers a wide range of Encore classes including Art, Instrumental and Vocal Music, PE, Drama, and Gateway to Technology (GTT). Our GTT classes use Project Lead the Way curriculum for middle schools. Our GTT lab includes 3-D printers, a CNC Mill, and Vex Robotics.

Galileo offers several after school clubs including Books and Games, Robotics, Diversity Club, Drama Club, Homework Club, and Fitness Club. In addition, Galileo students participate in a range of intramural and interscholastic sports in D11.
